Wow, its been awhile!

Well today was the last day of school! My baby is officially a 2nd grader now... Its hard to believe that it was almost 7 yrs ago that he was born!

This year as a whole has been AWESOME for Zack! We have had an awesome teacher and he got 100% all E's on his report card ALL year long! Im so proud of him! He got the Math award in class as well as the Citizenship award. He went all year w/o changing his behavior color in class. I hope this streak continues - its makes me sooo proud of him!!!

Wyatt is growing also! He is a ham and loves to be the center of attention when he can.. not in a bad way, he just loves people and loves to socialize. :) He's talking a lot now and his favorite fascination lately is watching movies lol...

I am so excited that school is out for the summer so we can DO STUFF!!!!! I have missed being able to do fun things with them with working and being at school all week. By the time I get home, I have little more energy than to go to the couch and vege till dark!

Hopefully, I can start blogging more.. I love to blog just havent had the time!!! toodles!!!

6 yr old Matter of Factness

Kids amaze me. They really do. They have a sense of the world that is so much greater than an adults sometimes.
Last week, we were on our way to Karate one night and Zack said "Is God alive?" And I explained that God was alive in heaven. He said "oh." A few minutes later, he said "I'll be up there with him one day." This kind of threw me for a loop bc I wasnt expecting it to come out of his mouth. I tiptoed around the rest of the conversation, but asked "why do you say that?"... his reply.... "well, everyone dies, Mom." 6 yr old matter-of-factness at its best.

On Valentine's Day, Scott's granny died. It all happened around 745 pm. We got this frantic call from Scott's Mom around 8pm. Something was heard about "daddy said mom died, were on our way." And that left us with confused looks on our faces staring at each other reliving the call that was just made to us. We didn't really believe it at first. Papaw had some moments in the past where he had freaked before and jumped to conclusions, so we were awaiting word that this was or was not one of them. This time, he had not over reacted.

Anyway, the boys got to see her a week ago. Zack knew she wasn't doing well and that she was very sick. I told him this morning so Scott wouldn't have to. He took it like a 6 yr old man. Very matter-of-fact like. He asked if we could see her today when we went down to visit, and I said no.. that she wasnt there anymore. He said "so shes already been buried?" I said, "no, not yet." but thankfully he left it at that and I didn't have to try and explain the other parts.....

Scott and I went down to Granny's today and stayed most of the day. It wasn't as bad as I had expected, honestly. This is not something that came as a GREAT shock..although it was shocking in the fact that it happened when it did....we excpected it when she was in the hospital, not really after she had been released. But, thankfully, she went in her OWN bed, in her OWN house, and peacefully.

We left the boys with my mom today so we could go visit, since we didn't really know what to expect from the mood that would surround the house. They had a blast of course, and when we got home, Zack asked if we got to see Granny. We said, "no, not today." obviuosly he doesnt quite get this, so he said "did she look like this?" and at layed his head to the side, eyes closed, tongue out...LOL... you cant help but laugh.. we changed the subject quick enough haha...

he also asked me "so who is papaw going to marry now? is he going to get a new wife?" I told him that no, papaw, would probably never marry again since he was so old and loved Granny so much. He said "well, whose going to take care of him? he has to have a wife to take care of him." Again, we explained that the family would take care of papaw and that he would be fine.....

Kids have an amazing sense of the world and things that are higher than us. Their faith is unshaken and it makes me proud of him to hear him say things like this....Granny would be proud.

Its colder than a....

....welldigger’s butt in the Klondike
... toliet seat in alaska
...Sunday in hell
...a mother in law's love
...dead snunk in a mud puddle
...witches boob

Just to name a few... after doing some research on the internet, its pretty odd what you can find out there, isn't it?

So Knoxville was like the only county in the state of TN not called off today. I do think its pretty silly to close school bc its COLD... what do you think they people up North do?? 6 degrees is summer to some up there! BUT on one hand, I do understand the need for some ignorant parents who still send their kids to school in tshirts and shorts....BUT should all kids be off bc some idiots dont know how to take care of their own kids? Its a sad day when we have to close schools bc of what some poor kids might have to go through to get to school - but its true. tsk, tsk, tsk.

Anyway, Miss Emma wont potty outside - its too cold for her little delicate paws lol... she runs back in and growls at me.. shes becoming such a DIVA!! Is this what its like to have girls?? lol... I dont know what worse, divas, or a 3 second memory with the boys. :)

Armageddon week....

So the History channel is having this weeklong series called "Armageddon Week" where they are basically talking about the end of the world - which will most likely be Dec 21, 2012. You cant help but watch it when you turn it on there...its like an addiction. What a wonderful way to start the new year, huh? In any case, I think they are nuts. The Bible says NOONE knows the day nor the hour...... What are your thoughts?

Welcome to 2009!

Well its already January 4th... 4 days into the new year... So Happy New Year! I have learned to NOT make resolutions, bc I am not one for keeping them. My only goal for this year is to really learn more about the bible and study it more. As we go to church more and more, I find myself looking deeper into the bible's meanings and wondering and wanting to learn more. It really is true when they say, to want to know more fosters a need for learning. The closer you grow to God makes you want to know more about him and what he has planned for us. I'm still on the hunt for a really good study bible.. or more like a devotional. Maybe something with some daily verses in them and a discussion...

I hope this New year is filled with fabulous things for our family and friends. This is my dreaded 3-0 year and I fully plan to hide under the covers all day - so don't attempt to call me or find me.

Im going to also save receipts this year. I know it sounds petty and small, but I NEVER have the receipts of things... Oh and be more patient with my children - thats always a goal, so its a goal for this year too lol.

On a better note, we got a puppy! Emma joined our family on January 1st. Shes an absolute doll and Im enjoying this puppy thing a lot more than I had intended. (so far) Its sooo different than our last dog experience.. Cindel was the sweetest dog but such a big brute that I couldn't even bare to let her out of her crate most of the time.. AND I was pregnant and SICK with Wyatt so it was an all around BAD situation.. Cindel is in a farrrr better home now that can accomodate her and I hope shes doing well :)

Here's Emma Lou!

The boys got waaaay too much for Christmas! As they always do lol... Im really lucky that we are surrounded by such great friends and family that care so much about our kids. Our boys really are lucky to have all that they have. It just breaks my heart to hear about people that cannot provide for their children.. it always puts your life in perspective when you are complaining about something that somewhere out there is someone who would kill for what you have. I know I probably dont show it enough, but I really am thankful for all we have.

Our pastor spoke this morning about America's problem with worshiping money before God. Its always about what you have, having the best and boggest house possible and a status symbol.. but that really is not what it is all about. But he is so right - people are obsessed with STUFF and THINGS.
I know a couple who are having some very hard times with their marriage/money/work and children and I really think that they need to turn around and look at the bigger picture of things and go to church. I just dont really know how to tell them this. She went with me one time to church and was very uncomfortable, but I really feel that God put her in my path for a reason and I should be helping them in a way. I see them spiraling out of control more and more each day and I just cant sit idly by any longer... any suggestions? lol

Well we are on our way to a movie :) Happy new year!!! check back often.. my goal is to blog more too lol..
